Summer Fun at the Library

The Nevada County Library has a summer reading program. It is a great program, run by Mrs. Gibson, to get and keep kids reading during the summer. The kick-off for this summer was this past Tuesday. "A Bug's Life" was shown along with popcorn and gummie worms. Andrew helped and Sara watched and "helped, too".

This Tuesday, June 24 will feature the McWilliams Sisters Spring Trio + One at 2:00 p.m. Don't miss it!

Friends

You won't see pictures of me very often. And this one is not the best but I have been in one of those teary moods, thinking of those that I love and those I've lost. I am very blessed to have great friends. Bestest friends are few and far between........I love Kim, she is my bestest friend. And by the way, the picture was her idea, not mine. (I hate to have my picture made!!)

Summer Fun

Isn't summer grand....Andrew and Sara had a swim at Aunt Kim's pool with Shelbi today. Dusty and I joined them later where Kim told us how much Shelbi loved to make Sara squeal. They did get her to get off the steps after much persuasion. She also came to the realization that she could touch. Then she went to the deep end to hang on to the diving board like the big kids so I could take a picture. She thought that was scary! Swimming lessons are this week. They have gone well. Sara is putting her face under a bit to swim. I told her we would video tomorrow so Daddy could see. Andrew swam like a fish at 3. He is an excellent swimmer! Sara is getting there slowly but surely.....or so we hope.

Happy Father's Day

I hope everyone had a Happy Father's Day. Andrew and Sara each made a gift for Dusty. Sara made his name with a bead kit. Andrew drew a Razorback and then burnt it in the wood with his woodburning kit.

Dusty had to work until 3:00 but when he got off his cards and gifts were waiting for him. Daddy played golf this morning so we went to see him late this afternoon and gave him his gifts. The kids also made him a "Pop" out of beads. We came home and cooked steaks for supper and watched a little tv.

We had a good day!!! It's a good feeling to have your family around.

My Weekend

My weekend, after mowing the yard on Friday and a Saturday morning ballgame, consisted of reading and tv. I have not learned to put down a book after I start so yesterday I read, Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind by Ann B. Ross. Mom recommended it to me and Mrs. Gibson recommended it to her. Look it up, it's a great read!
I also have heard about Army Wives on Lifetime but didn't start watching it because we are tv addicts and hooked on so many other shows. But......they had a marathon that ran all day on Saturday. I DVRed it, spent the whole day watching it today so we would get to see the Season 2 premiere tonight. I even got Dusty and Andrew interested so now we are all addicted. I had a headache when Dusty got home and he said it was because I sat in front the tv all day crying. He was right. Even though it is just a tv show, it can really put things into perspective. May God bless the military, their wives and families!

Gran and Pop

Pop, Andrew, Gran & Sara
I hope Jamie is looking. She is always asking about Lynn and Gil so thought I would do this one just for her. Good to see you when I did!!

Andrew's Home

Andrew and Gran went to Missouri to see Grandma Strickland. They have only been gone for a few days but we were glad they're back. I had to call him this morning to tell him about D-Mac signing his million $$$$ contract with the Raiders. Wouldn't that be nice!

Well........

I have been unable to successfully send pictures of us. Well, not me but the kids. I have a few friends that have done a blog so I thought I would give it a go. We have been quite busy lately and had lots of things going on and I want to share.

So........on to my bragging. I'll try not to do it so much in the future but have to get you caught up. Then I'll try to let you know what's going on with us weekly.

My baby boy, Andrew, graduated from middle school. He gave the welcome speech for 8th grade graduation and did a very good job. He had a very good year. He was elected Student Council Treasurer with the slogan, "Don't get robbed, vote for Cobb." He was voted Best All Around and Friendliest. He had good grades all year, except for the C+ he couldn't get rid of in Algebra and then BAM, last nine weeks with all A's, INCLUDING ALGEBRA!!! As you all know, if you know Andrew, even if he is mine, he is a great kid! I just can't believe he is going to high school.

Oh, and thank goodness mamas have cameras, because that is all that saved me from boo-hooing my eyes out at graduation was trying to get pictures of him.

Miss Sara is going to first grade. She loves school! She loves learning, writing, reading and socializing! She is very smart. She had all A's, all year. She graduated from kindergarten and had to have the PERFECT dress. The one she ending up wearing wasn't mama's first choice but Mrs. Hale sealed the deal when she told Sara white looked the best on stage. She looked beautiful though, if I must say so myself. She is a sweetie pie!! She made honor roll, got an American Good Citizenship Award and a Physical Fitness Award.

Sara is also playing teeball this year. She is on the AFLAC team. She loves it and is doing quite well. They are all so fun to watch. She has a double header this Monday and that will be her last game.

Dusty and I were on vacation last week. We hung out around home. Dusty will be off again soon and we are planning on trying to take a vacation. Right now, we are just trying to get back into the swing of work but it is no fun. I am only working 4 days a week and that helps.

Kids are swimming and sleeping late! Exactly what they want to do. Hope your summer is going great, too.

I promise I won't go on so long next time...........
