Just for you, Kim Jim

Here is the waterfall place, Kim. It is in Delight. Wendy M., Melanie and I took our kids there to take our Christmas pictures this year. The water was flowing pretty good at the time. I feel in, luckily I didn't get all that wet. Leave it to me though to do that.
The black and white picture in a previous post was taken at the same place by my sister in law, Diane. More of her pictures can be viewed at www.dianehinchcliffphotography.com. The kids are on there.

Magga-Lu and Sara, too!

Sara and Maggie--what a pair! Sara carries Maggie around on her hip like a baby. She talks to "Magga-Lu" (her pet name, get it?) and likes to put jewelry on her. Sara says she's a pretty girl. I'm sure Maggie has a blast. Or she lets Sara think so. She puts up with anything the kids, or mostly Sara, can dish out. She is a great kid dog. Part of our family. And she's quite a looker too! I mean, Sara and the dog.

Andrew

Andrew is joining the golf team in high school this year. He will be a freshman. He has been practicing, needs to practice more and more since it is getting to be that time. You know, for school to start. Those are dirty words for him so I should be whispering them. Andrew never looks forward to that.
He is a pretty good player. I am glad he enjoys playing, although he has been pretty lazy since it has been so hot.

Chirstmas in July

My sweet sister-in-law took this picture in '07. It is the first time Sara sat in Santa's lap. Previous pictures of Sara and Santa have me or Dusty in them trying to get her just to get close or slipping off his lap crying when she was very small. She did understand that this Santa was Uncle Dan dressed up to help the real Santa Claus make sure all the little kids got to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
I don't have any hard copies of this picture yet. I am hoping I will get some soon so I can have Sara's first time on Santa's lap in her scrap book. Hint, hint, sister-in-law. I love ya!

I Stand Corrected

I was so proud of my last post.........Dusty got home yesterday, I told him to go to our blog, he did, I was WRONG! I can admit that......do you think he would?
Today marks his 20th year at Firestone. He didn't get cookies because it was not his regular work day, his are Tuesday-Saturday, so I think, yes, I think he will get them tomorrow. I may be WRONG, all I know for sure is he did get the luggage. How do I know this? It came to the house in the mail.........that I do know for a fact!

20 Years

As of today, Dusty has worked at Firestone for 20 years. He choose a 4-piece set of rolling luggage for his gift from Firestone. I believe they are having something small on Monday for he and the others that have worked there the same amount of time.
He wanted something we would use but would not buy. He also said since we were going to "travel the country" this next year this would be useful.
Dusty is a very hard worker. I hope Firestone appreicates him half as much as I do.

Come On, It's Easy

Remember The A-Team.......it's B.A. Baracus, or better known to most of you as Mr. T. Andrew loves watching The A-Team on tv but it hasn't come on in a while. He recently found Seasons 1-5 at Best Buy. I bought 1 and he bought 2. He and Sara stayed up late watching them and now is ready to go get more.

Guess Who?

Can you guess who this is? Sara got beads at Walmart that you make designs with and iron them to make them stay together. Andrew has done a few too and made some very good designs. So take a guess who Andrew made! Stay tuned in tomorrow to see if you were right or not!

Maggie Lu Cobb

This is Maggie Lu Cobb (that's what her papers say because we had to vote between Maggie and Lucy and it was a tie so we had to do both names), our liver miniature schnauzer. She loves being where ever we are and is a good family dog. The kids wore her out, which doesn't happen very often. She didn't even move when I took her picture. She's usually under foot and being nosy, but she was tired. She acts like a nut when we have company but when it is just us she is a sweet little lap dog when I want her to be or the kids or Dusty wire her up playing and barking at her and she fights back. Either way, we love her and wouldn't trade her for anything!
I say all of this like we just got her. We have had her for about a year and a half. She is just making her debut on our blog. We were saving the best doggie for last.

Pickin' Peaches

We have two peach trees in our yard. They were here when we moved here, well really three were, but one died. They bloomed and made peaches for the first few years. That was fine and dandy. Mom came and picked and did what she liked with them. But the last couple of years they haven't made peaches. Those trees have been in my way when mowing, scratching my arms and legs, and had yucky spider webs and bugs in them. I begged Dusty to cut them down! I am sorry to say, I was quite happy this spring when one died and he just pulled it with his strong bare hands from the ground. I then begged again, "Since that one died, let's just cut the others, they don't make peaches anyway!" Did he do what I asked? What do you think?
Then the dern peach trees started blooming, making buckets of peaches. Go figure!
No one here likes them except for the occassional coyote we've seen having a morning snack. So last night the kids decided to pick them for Gran. There are plenty more where they came from. What do I know!

Can You Believe It?!?!?!?!

So, we are just chillin in the little pool.... And Sara decides she is just gonna under with her goggles and mouthpiece on......

Then we get really brave and have a contest with Andrew.......mom has to time us to see who wins.....and guess what......it's a TIE!

So now we are resting and getting ready for another competition.

For those of you that don't know, Sara is not the fish Andrew is or was at that age. So Dusty and I were tickled pink today when she decided to go under, first with the goggles and then later without them.

Johnson - Cobb - Hartley Fourth of July

We all met at mom and dad's for an early 4th of July celebration. We had grilled hot dogs and homemade ice cream. The kids swam and played. Following tradition, mom and dad bought everyone matching shirts.

Andrew's Long Awaited Watermelons

I can't tell you how many times we have tried to grow watermelons. Andrew has wanted too, we have tried and failed and last year we didn't even make an attempt. This year we gave it a go. And look what was on the vines when we went out to check! And this is just a few......the larger one is really only about 8 inches long but it is getting there. Or so I hope, I don't want to jinx Andrew. He planted 8 plants, 7 survived so he has his own little watermelon patch. And he may even share with us!

Sara's Patio Tomatoes

Here's the story......Dusty sent me, Andrew and Sara to get plants for the garden. I call him while we are looking at tomato plants, name the different kinds, he tells me what kind to get......is that what I come home with? Noooooooooooo! I bought all the wrong kinds but......Sara loves baby tomatoes! She eats them like candy. I did buy cherry tomatoes, regular ones(that's what I bought wrong) and this one shown, Patio Tomatoes. The stick with the cute little picture in the patio tomatoes showed a little bunch of baby tomatoes(like Sara calls them) that were just what she wanted. That plant did get planted on the patio but it is NOT baby ones. Someone nicely switched the tags, Sara is still proud but we will see if she eats them. The cherry tomatoes are planted in the garden and before they can get good and ripe........Sara eats them!

What Did Your Garden Grow

It may sound a little corny (no pun intended) but it amazes me when I or we or really mostly Dusty (HAHA) grow something. I love to walk out in the afternoons and see whats new going on in the garden. And yes, I'm impressed that we have grown something. Like no one else ever does!
I do that in the spring, walk around the yard when all my flowers, plants and shrubs are breaking out of the ground and budding and say "I did that." It's new life and I am very appreciative.
What does our garden grow? Squash, purple hull peas, cayenne peppers (those are for Dusty only!), tomatoes (baby ones(cherry) for Sara and big ones for Dusty), corn and watermelon.
